This has been coloured for ages, and then my scanner borked. I'm not sure whether he looks more of a gentleman, or swishier. :V

I think I mentioned before that I decided that the legendary British assailant Springheel Jack was a skinwalker (hence the pointy ears). Skinwalker being relatively vague, I fleshed them out in my own head before I read the Wikipedia article, so there's a number of discrepancies for those of you who are cryptid-inclined:

Skinwalkers are born to human parents; the mutation that gives them the ability to take on the form of any creature takes place in utero, and is often a result of exposure to high levels of magic. At birth, they are both white-haired and white-eyed. Pigmentation takes place over a long period of time; the older a skinwalker is, the darker his hair is. (Springheel is roughly middle-aged.) Most skinwalkers are cold and withdrawn, often from being ostracized as "changelings" since birth. They are a form of rudimentary vampire, in the sense that their powers and abilities are fuelled by feeding off the fear and suffering of others; these sensations are absorbed much like a sponge. Most skinwalkers prefer living near places such as slaughterhouses, funeral homes and graveyards for this reason. Along with slightly enhanced senses, especially smell, the healing period for most injuries is greatly reduced, as is to be expected, though their skin does scar, albeit not as easily as a human's.

TL;DR: Too much spare time.

Time: Too long
Materials: Cleaned-up photocopy of original, varying pencil crayons, gold pen

Springheel Jack, based on legend, is my own creation.

How long did it take you to get the face, proportions, etc, so nice? Usually it takes me a few failed sketches before I get something half this coherent. Oh yeah, and for some odd reason, almost every Springheel Jack piece I run into on DA is great--this is no exception.
I'd go on to comment on more of your pieces, but I have to get a lot of studying out of the way first and it's going to go slower than I'd hoped. Watch your messages!

I'm going to have to cop out and say it was a fluke. I was just bored and figured I'd work out his design one day, and this was one of those lucky drawings that comes out perfect from the start. (I do use rough guidelines, though, so maybe that helped some.).

Thanks so much, and I will keep an eye out for your comments, and on your gallery.

Another awesome drawing and costume design, that's definitly one of your strengths. I love the look on his face, it says plenty without requiring a single word :D

Fighting a busy real world existence, limited time, and other troubles leaves little time for dA, unfortunately.

Inside my soul is a forest filled with camel spiders holding pens, carefully drawing cow-spotted cats on packages of instant noodles....

Once again, thank you. I actually think I liked his expression a little more before I inked it, but que sera sera and all that.
